Seller's Comments and Description:
I have just upgraded to a Motorola test set that came up brand new in the box(NOS), and also own a 2955 marconi, an IFR1000 and a Wavetek, so time to make some space back available.
So up for sale is the Hewlett Packard HP8924C and it is probably my most reliable machine, well equal to my motorola and I dont need two doing basically the same operations.
The 8924c comes with a calibrated attenuator to enable high power, has has the screen replaced so no burn marks etc, and basically it is a great test set for using as an all purpose unit. Forget the CDMA usage, you will never use it, this was a module for the unit that sure, it is an added feature, once again, not one you will likely use. All receiver and transmitter testing is very easily done, options of various measurements depending what you prefer are just a press of a button away. There is loads of info on the net on the HP8924C and how versatile it is for any radio workshop.
These retailed for some rediculous money, and this unit is without any faults and any test is welcomed. If your doing any level of service work and need accuracy, this is the answer as it was only recently calibrated and works incredibly well. Its a shame it has to go as its an amazing machine but I am trying to battle that electronic hoarding bug, slowly anyway.
Pick up preferred but we can pack at your expense, but if shipped, I am not responsible for the handling or any damage a shipping company may do, so maybe insurance ticked on the con note is preferable if shipped.
If you need a ham to come here to check on your behalf, there are many in the area, as mentioned, any test welcomed, its just a bargain at $1750 for what these units can do.
My replacement motorola 2600 (very late model NOS)was over $6k and for new old stock, it was good buying but the truth is the 8924C does everything my 2600 does, I am just ex motorolan who when I was offered this new in the box, but obviously old stock, I had to say yes..And yes, all caps on the 2600 were great, big issue if they were not of course in the 2600.
